The Emotions Mind Map

The Emotions Mind Map with feelings

Label your emotions and neatly file them in a cabinet. Anger in one drawer, joy in another. Sadness tucked away in the back. Fear locked up tight. The problem, however, is that feelings can’t be contained so easily.

Emotions are messy, complex, and often contradictory. They blur together and seep through any boundaries we try to impose. Attempting to suppress or ignore them only grants them more power. To truly understand our emotions, we have to face them head-on. That’s where The Emotions Mind Map exercise comes in.

The Emotions Mind Map exercise is a tool to help you explore and express your emotions in a healthy way.

What is The Emotions Mind Map?

The Emotions Mind Map exercise uses art therapy techniques to help you visualize your emotions. You draw a mind map with eight main topics around the central topic in the middle. Each topic represents a core emotion like anger, joy, fear, or shame. Then, you assign a colour and an image to capture how each emotion feels to you.
