The river flows, a winding path
From mountain peak to ocean vast
Carving canyons, shaping stone
Seeking, always, the unknown
Daring leaps off jagged cliffs
Mist rising as the water shifts
Churning currents, froth and roar
Rolling boulders, grinding shore
Peaceful stretches, languid plains
Lazy loops with gentle refrains
Sunbeams dance on ripples bright
Herons wade in the sparkling light
Forests green the mossy banks
Earthy scents drift in the breeze
Of stately trees that shade the stream
Where tranquil shadows softly dream
Ever onward the river bends
Flowing faithfully towards its end
An ancient cycle, gravity’s call
Urging its waters to give their all
The river trembles at the breakers’ boom
Fearing its fate, the sea its tomb
But bravely on the waters flow
Embracing destiny, the ocean’s tow
In that meeting, a union sublime
River and sea merge for all time
The river need not cease to be
Its waters now mingle with eternity
So too our lives wind on their way
From rushing youth to twilight gray
Change is a constant, beginnings end
But our essence always will transcend
